Recovery Center of Bowie/Red River County

 

The mission of the program is to provide the District Courts with a sentencing alternative for women substance abuse offenders by providing a residential treatment program within a community setting.

 

The Bowie/Red River Treatment Facility will integrate numerous proven “Best Practices” principles to develop a fine tuned therapeutic program that is effective for the female offender population.  The use of cognitive restructuring, social skills and problem solving skills with integration of recovery skills, has proven effective in increasing accountability and behavior modification.  Effectively treating both the chemical dependency and criminal behavior can have a profoundly positive effect on reducing recidivism and creating sober and responsible living.

Volunteers

 

Volunteers are critical to the treatment of the women in the Recovery Center. People with special talent in music, art, educations, entertainment, recreation and sports can enrich the lives of the women.

These are some if the openings for volunteers now available:

· Mentors—Twelve step, NA, and AA program leaders assist in providing evening and weekend groups.

· Tutors—Volunteers help residents reach their target grade level in math, reading and more.

· Chapel Services—Individuals and church groups are welcome to conduct one of our weekly to conduct one of our weekly services for residents each month.

Note: All volunteer applicants must undergo a criminal background check and training for the protection of the women and volunteers.
